In the book “Wired for Success Programmed for Failure” by Dr. James B. Richards, I learned that the desire to succeed is part of our permanent internal wiring. Yet, nearly everything and everyone in our life has unintentionally played a role in programming us to accept certain limitations. The majority of people live within invisible boundaries they have placed on themselves that have become the accepted limits of their success.
I want to share with you about fear and stress. Every opportunity has a degree of stress. Every “unknown” in our life is considered a threat. A threat produces fear. Fear creates stress. Stress puts us into fight or flight. Fight or flight makes it virutally impossible to hear the intuitive, creative voice of the heart. This is what causes us to merely survive instead of thrive.
Success will always take us down paths we have never been. The desire to grow and expand is inherent in mankind. We were wired for success. Albert Einstein said: “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited.” There is no limit to the imagination. Imagination is the seed from which all new success grows. However, since it is imagined it is not yet real to us. A new venture may have many similarities to past successes but there is always the unknown.
Keep in mind that all new success requires a new path. After all, if we knew how to have the level of success we desired, we would already have it. If we knew the way, we would have already made the journey. New success is always an adventure into the unknown. Don’t let fear hold you back from taking your new journey. Unsure where to start? Ask me how.
